Burger King's NEW “Spider-Verse” Whopper® features a ¼ lb.* flame-grilled beef patty, melty Swiss cheese, juicy tomatoes, crisp lettuce, sliced white onions, crunchy pickles, creamy mayonnaise, and ketchup all on a toasted red and black sesame seed bun. “Spider-Verse” Whopper® red bun. It’s the latest entry in Burger King’s storied tradition of making burger’s with different colored buns.
My research suggests that unlike previous burgers the bun is not flavored, the red color is strictly an aesthetic change. Sorry to disappoint anyone hoping the bun would taste like Spiderman.
N.B. I customized my burger by getting it with the Impossible patty, and no tomatoes.
The Spider-verse burger is visually striking. The black sesame seeds stand out against the bright red bun. The center of the burger features a lot of white between the Swiss cheese, mayo, and onion slices.
This is pretty similar to the typical Whopper with cheese. The bun tasted a little saltier than normal to me, but that may have been a placebo. The Swiss cheese was a nice upgrade from the blander American they’d normally use. I was impressed by the quality of the produce. The lettuce was crisp, the onion was sweet, and the pickles were flavorful. There was a lot of richness between the cheese and the mayo. The Impossible patty is nearly indistinguishable from the normal Whopper. My only real complaint is that they forgot the ketchup, and everything felt a little dry as a result. I added some at home and won’t hold that against the burger.
I liked the Spider-Verse Whopper a lot, but it’s biggest problem is that it comes from Burger King. If get the Spider-Verse Whopper you’re forced to choose between eating Burger King fries or skipping fries entirely. I’m on a cutting cycle, but this would have been problematic if I was feeling a little more indulgent
Overall the Spider-Verse Whopper is a fun alternative to a normal fast food burger. I had fun eating it, and I’ll probably laugh if it turns my poop red. (3.5/5)
